MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – On Friday afternoon, a 100-year-old WWII veteran, Putnam Green, was honored with a new monument at the National Cemetery at Jackson Avenue.
Green was honored along with the “Seabees”, the construction force of the U-S Navy, known for their ability to build whatever needs to be assembled as well as their engineering capabilities.
Green was born in Memphis back in 1924 and joined the 4th battalion in the Navy.
After taking part in several operations in locations from San Francisco to Okinawa, Green returned home, where he was honorably discharged at the Millington Naval Air Station…
