Since the COVID pandemic, Memphis has gradually lost all of its late-night places to eat, and really almost nothing is left. One of the casualties of the pandemic was the idiosyncratic gourmet dive bar The Dirty Crow. Afterwards, it morphed into a more traditional dive bar known as Momma’s, with a trucker-bar theme. The food makes no pretense at being gourmet, but Momma’s stays open until 3AM, and is really the only late-night option to sit down and order a meal in the city.
The multi-year redesign of the Crump, Riverside and I-55 intersection has been giving Momma’s a hard time, making the bar hard to reach, but the completion and opening of the traffic circle off the river bridge has opened things up again. My bacon cheese burger was not necessarily the best I…..
