GERMANTOWN, Tenn. (WMC) – The owner of a local family-run hot wing restaurant has pleaded guilty to theft and tax evasion, according to the Tennessee Department of Revenue.
The department announced Wednesday that Alex Crowder, 47, pleaded guilty to his felony charges stemming from fraudulent sales tax returns for his business, Mr. P’s Buffalo Wings, which moved from Memphis to Germantown after Crowder’s 2023 indictment.
Crowder was sentenced to eight years’ probation and ordered to pay restitution of $348,620.
“The taxes collected from customers are property of the state and local governments,” Revenue Commissioner David Gerregano said. “Customers have a right to know that the tax they pay will be remitted to the state and used for public good.”…
