Armed man bails out of stolen car during attempted traffic stop: MPD

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — An armed man in a stolen car fled on foot after police tried to initiate a traffic stop in South Memphis on Monday, according to Memphis Police.

On June 30, between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., a victim reported their red 2020 Hyundai Elantra was stolen in the 600 block of Saint Paul Avenue in South Memphis.

According to reports, the vehicle was later spotted in the area of Mendenhall Road and Knight Arnold Road, driven by a man.

When officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the driver refused to stop. The driver got out of the Elantra and fled on foot with a handgun…
