Memphis police see drop in crime with community efforts

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The commander of the Austin Peay police station in Raleigh says they are seeing a reduction in crime in Frayser and Raleigh neighborhoods because everyone is working together.

It’s all about bringing everyone together, from officers to those in the business community, also working with those overseeing the Ridgecrest Apartments, a place WREG unfortunately reported plenty of problems.

“Every time we turned on the television it was something going on in Raleigh, in Frayser, and any community meetings, the biggest thing was ‘what is MPD doing about crime?” said Colonel Vikki Shabazz, Memphis Police.
