12-year-old boy hurts himself after throwing around bullets he found, MPD says

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A 12-year-old boy hurt himself after he was playing with a set of bullets he found, police said.

Memphis Police (MPD) said officers responded just before 7 p.m. to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital for an injury call. They arrived to learn that the boy had found bullets in a Westwood neighborhood and started throwing them at an unidentified object.

However, police said, one of the bullets “discharged” and struck the boy. He was taken to Le Bonheur for treatment and the boy’s injuries were not considered life-threatening, MPD said…
