New data shows crime is down for Memphis, just not to pre-pandemic levels

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – New crime numbers are in, and the data shows major crime in Memphis is down, but not to the level it was at before the pandemic.

Although the numbers from the Memphis Shelby Crime Commission are showing a decrease, a mother whose son was shot and killed in downtown Memphis says it doesn’t feel like it.
