Memphis Housing Authority opens waitlist for public housing

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Housing Authority is opening a new public housing waitlist for select communities in August, offering affordable housing opportunities for those in need.

“We encourage individuals and families to review the available units to ensure the space meets your needs before applying. That way, we can ensure a smooth and efficient placement process,” said Dexter Washington, chief executive officer at Memphis Housing Authority.

In preparation for the opening of new waitlists, MHA will contact existing applicants from July 28 to August 1 to confirm their interest in remaining on the waitlist. Those who do not respond will be removed from the list.

Those who are currently on other MHA waitlists, such as the Housing Choice Voucher or Project-Based Voucher programs, can also apply for public housing using their existing RentCafe login information.
