MEMPHIS, Tenn. – An internal investigation is underway at 201 Poplar after an inmate was apparently forgotten for hours.
Eric Goolsby, who is on trial for rape of a child, was left in a holding area instead of being escorted back to his cell after court wrapped up this week.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Goolsby was left unattended for between three and four hours after court finished on Tuesday. Shelby County Sheriff Floyd Bonner called it a “procedural lapse,” but for loved ones of Goolsby, it could have been much worse…
