Southaven mayor confirms new xAI site

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The mayor of Southaven, Mississippi, Darren Musselwhite, announced in a social media post that the former Duke Energy facility will be used to power xAI.

“The former Duke Energy facility will become functional again after decades of vacancy to meet the electricity demands of these artificial intelligence operations,” Mayor Musselwhite said in a Facebook post. “xAI has followed all of the regulatory processes to obtain a permit to operate here, but they have also proven that they will go above and beyond in bringing public benefit to the communities where they operate.”
