Memphis Police on the Hunt for Six Suspects in New Park Cemetery Carjacking Incident

Memphis authorities are currently seeking information following a reported carjacking incident that occurred at the New Park Cemetery. According to a release published by the Memphis Police Department, at around 2:00 p.m. on July 26, a driver for Uber arrived at the cemetery to pick up a customer, only to be assaulted by six individuals who then fled with his vehicle.

The victim described an unexpected group ambush, including four women and two men, after he approached the supposed pickup area at 4536 Horn Lake Road. As the vehicle stopped at the cemetery’s front gate, he was incapacitated with pepper spray and then forcibly removed from his red 2018 Nissan Versa. They directed him to pull over at the gate under the guise of entering the cemetery.

Investigations led to a breakthrough when surveillance footage uncovered part of the suspects’ subsequent movements. The camera footage captured four females abandoning the stolen vehicle at a shopping center on the 3800 block of Jackson Avenue.
