MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Utility crews were hard at work Saturday morning repairing damage to the grid from powerful pop-up thunderstorms that hit Memphis Friday.
Memphis Light, Gas & Water (MLGW) reported at the height of the outage more than 10,000 of their customers were without electricity. That number was cut in half by late Saturday morning.
The utility provider said the issue is they are dealing with a large number of small outages. By late morning, the traffic lights were still out at the intersection of Evergreen Street and Jackson Avenue. The company called in extra crews to deal with the widespread issues, that were reported across Bluff City, but the Crosstown neighborhood seems to have taken the brunt of the damage…
