Memphis police are seeking information on an individual involved in a scam on Prescott Road. According to a report from the Memphis Police Department, on August 11, a transaction for a vehicle, listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace, turned into a fraudulent ordeal. The deceptive exchange occurred on the 3700 block of Prescott Road around 5:27 p.m., where the victim was conned out of $1,200.
The scenario unfolded as the suspect, feigning the completion of the sale, directed the victim, who was eager to take possession of the new purchase, to wait for the vehicle to be pulled up from the rear of a property. Meanwhile, instead of delivering on the promise made, the suspect absconded with the cash in a black SUV, bearing the Tennessee license plate TN BRL8063. The victim, left waiting, was forced to confront the harsh truth that the anticipated exchange was but a ruse.
The Memphis Police Department has issued a call to action for anyone with knowledge regarding this incident to step forward. “Anyone with information about this incident should call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH,” implores the official statement. The MPD, tasked with upholding law and justice, seeks the collective vigilance of the community to bring the perpetrator of this fraud to accountability…
