County Commissioner requests hold on funding for Memphis dog grooming salon under investigation

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A Shelby County Commissioner on Thursday requested a hold on funding for a Memphis dog grooming salon under investigation for animal abuse.

In a statement, Commissioner Britney Thornton said Glamour Grooming and Boarding was among small businesses selected to receive funding through a $1.8 million budget allocation in District 10. Earlier this week, FOX13 obtained videos showing what appeared to be abuse of small dogs at the salon.

Amid the allegations, Thornton said Thursday that her office “has taken swift action to amend the allocation and will remain laser-focused on uplifting young adults, strengthening small businesses, and empowering neighborhoods.”…
