Collierville man sentenced to 10 years in deadly Oxford hit-and-run

OXFORD, Miss. — Nearly three years after a University of Mississippi student was killed in a downtown Oxford hit-and-run, the man behind the wheel has been sentenced to prison.

On Monday, Seth Rokitka, of Collierville, pleaded guilty to aggravated DUI and leaving the scene of an accident with injuries. This morning, a judge sentenced him to 10 years in prison, followed by five years of probation. His sentence is set to begin next Friday.

Oxford hit-and-run victim killed while celebrating 21st birthday

The charges stem from an October 2022 crash that claimed the life of 21-year-old Walker Fielder, a finance student from Madison, Mississippi. Fielder and a friend, Blanche Williamson of Raleigh, North Carolina, were struck around 1 a.m. near Oxford City Hall while celebrating Fielder’s birthday. Williamson survived but was seriously injured.

Investigators said Rokitka fled the scene in his truck but was arrested hours later in Memphis. Another Collierville man, Tristan Holland, was also charged as an accessory after the fact.
