Memphis Police Seek Public’s Help to Identify Red-Underwear-Clad Gunman in Apple Tree Apartments Shooting

Memphis residents were shaken by the sounds of gunshots in the Apple Tree Apartments on Tuesday morning. According to a report from the Memphis Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Dupont Avenue around 9:15 a.m. after receiving multiple reports of gunshots. It was discovered that a male suspect had approached a residence and fired several shots at the door where a victim was standing. Thankfully, the individual inside escaped harm’s way, as the bullets only hit the door.

Surveillance video captured the tense moments as the male, adorned in red underwear, kicked the victim’s door after unleashing a volley of bullets. Soon after committing the assault, the suspect, described as having his hair twisted into two pigtails and wearing a black shirt, white pants, and red shoes, fled the scene on foot. A notorious piece of apparel was his red shoes, distinguishing in the mundane grey of the urban sprawl.
