‘What is going on’: Mother charged with teen son in Beale Street shooting speaks to WREG

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman who is facing charges alongside her 16-year-old son after a shooting on Beale Street that injured a 17-year-old during the 901 Day celebrations appeared in court on Friday morning.

T’marious Allen, 17, was critically injured after a shooting during 901 Day celebrations.

Suntria Stackins, 49, spoke with WREG after her arraignment in court. She says the day she and her son were taken into custody [Wednesday], deputies did not say why they were at her home when they arrived.

“I had just gotten into an altercation with a young lady ten minutes before that, and she was recording me, so that’s what I initially thought they were there for,” Stackins told WREG.

Stackins says she did not know why she and her son were arrested until after the fact. “They really just knocked, and they never did say ‘Where is he?’ They really just knocked softly,” she said…
