A series of burglaries at Mapco, 459 E. H. Crump Boulevard, has Memphis authorities seeking two suspects. The Memphis Police Department reported that the same two suspects have hit the convenience store three separate times over the past month, with the latest incident occurring yesterday. According to the Memphis Police official website, the suspects, described as two Black males, one wearing a green hoodie and the other in a blue hoodie, have consistently targeted the store’s supply of cigarettes and cash.
The first burglary they were linked to took place on August 6, followed by another on September 6, with the suspects arriving at the premises at around 6:10 p.m. They were reported to “jump over the counter” and quickly fill a plastic bag with cigarettes, as well as to manage to gain access to the register, where they took approximately $150 worth of cigarettes and $110 in cash. The most recent burglary saw them escape with $478 worth of cigarettes. Their method of operation, clothing, and masks have led authorities to strongly believe these incidents are related.
During these burglaries, surveillance footage captured the suspects’ attire in detail. The first suspect wore “a green hoodie, a black ski mask, black pants, black tennis shoes,” while the second suspect was in “a blue hoodie, a blue surgical mask, black jogging pants, gray tennis shoes.” The Memphis Police Department has released these descriptions in the hope that the public can assist in identifying the culprits.
