City takes landlord to Chancery Court over poor living conditions in properties

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Trash, sewage, no running water, rats and pets. City officials said they are fed up with the deplorable conditions at a North Memphis apartment complex, so on Thursday, they tried a new, aggressive approach in Chancery Court to hold the property owner accountable.

A mother of three testified that her youngest was just two years old when they moved in 2023 into 1553 North Hollywood.
