Encampment residents told to leave after fatal shooting

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — After a man was captured by the fugitive unit for a deadly shooting at a homeless encampment on Friday, those living there may now be forced out.

A man going by the name of Boston says he knows both the suspect and the victim involved in the shooting at an encampment in the woods behind Sycamore View’s IHOP.

“This is Memphis, so sometimes instead of these things (points to his fists) the gun go bang,” said Boston, a Sycamore View man.

Broderick Baker, 30, was arrested by the MPD Fugitive Unit, and he is charged with aggravated assault, especially aggravated kidnapping, and a convicted felon in possession of a handgun.
