Gun found at Whitehaven HS stolen from Louisiana deputy in 2016

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — WREG has learned the gun found with a Whitehaven High School student was stolen from law enforcement in 2016.

WREG found out the gun belonged to a now-former deputy sheriff in Louisiana.

In 2016, at the downtown Holiday Inn Express parking lot, Memphis police responded to a car theft. The victim was listed as the sheriff of Jefferson Davis Parish in Louisiana.

Officers say they responded to the scene on July 1st, 2016.
