Shelby County Gov. gives citizens checkpoint behavior guidance

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Stay calm, and be prepared. Shelby County Government is giving citizens advice on how to handle checkpoints when the National Guard arrives in Memphis.

In Washington, D.C., federal authorities and local police set up checkpoints around the city. Our NBC affiliate reported that police sometimes asked people for their immigration status and later detained them.

NBC News also reported uniformed Metro Police officers teamed with Homeland Security and plainclothes agents at a checkpoint in one of D.C.’s popular entertainment districts last month. Members of the National Guard were not seen…
