Memphis edition of Monopoly revealed at UofM

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis edition of the board game Monopoly was revealed at the University of Memphis on Wednesday, a year after the announcement of the game.

According to Monopoly, this edition replaces the board game’s Atlantic City squares (from Boardwalk to Park Place) with city cultural sites, historic landmarks, charitable organizations, and businesses.

Sarah Bowman, Sales Executive, Top Trumps USA, Hasbro’s licensing company, told WREG that a vote was conducted after asking Memphians what they wanted to see on the Memphis edition.

She said thousands of people responded, talking about the University of Memphis, hangout spots, barbecue spots, and the culture and pride.

Bowman said on the community chest cards, there are little easter eggs about the flat tires and potholes when you land on the square…
