Deputies search for convicted murderer after his release on separate charge

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Shelby Co. deputies are searching for a man, convicted of first-degree murder, after he was released by jail staff the same day of his conviction.

Authorities say 24-year-old Anthony Green was found guilty in a jury trial on Wednesday, Sept. 24 for the shooting death of a Whitehaven man in 2020.

On Tuesday, Green was arrested on a misdemeanor theft charge. He posted a $2,500 bond for that charge on the same day as his conviction.

According to the Shelby Co. Sheriff’s Office, the bond for the misdemeanor case was the only bond actively holding Green in custody. After his bond payment, he was released from custody…
