MPD’s new traffic shift leads to 1,800 tickets, 50 arrests, police say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – An enhanced focus on traffic safety in Memphis led to 1,800 tickets and more than 50 arrests in two weeks, according to the Memphis Police Department (MPD).

MPD began its “Your Safety is Our Destination” operation in late September. That initiative included the creation of a new afternoon shift, running from 3 p.m. until 11 p.m., to concentrate on traffic enforcement.
