13-year-old Collierville student heads to world skating competition

COLLIERVILE, Tenn. – Jeremy Liu, a 13-year-old skater from West Collierville Middle School, will represent Team USA at the World Artistic Roller Skating Championships in Beijing, China, from October 17 to 30, 2025.

Liu is the only skater from Tennessee to qualify for the competition out of nearly 950 athletes. The eighth grader trains at East End Skating Center under the guidance of his 95-year-old coach, Caroline Mirelli.

Coach Caroline Mirelli has been a significant figure in the Memphis skating community for decades, mentoring young athletes and inspiring them to achieve their best.

The 69th World Artistic Roller Skating Championships will feature 943 athletes and 318 National Technical Officials, totaling 1,261 participants. It will include a variety of events over the course of two weeks, with skaters from more than 34 nations competing for 23 gold medals…
