Memphis Safe Task Force completes over 800 arrests after second week of operation

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Since launching on Sept. 29, the Memphis Safe Task Force has completed 804 arrests in Shelby County, according to documents from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) obtained by ABC24.

On Oct. 9, United States Attorney General Pam Bondi announced via social media platform X, formerly Twitter, that the task force had made 562 arrests so far and 144 illegal guns had been seized. The number of firearms seized has now risen to 173.

Since its last update on Thursday, the task force has made 241 more arrests. So far, a majority of the stops have been over traffic citations, with the task force having served over 3,900 since its launch…
