Family identifies 2-year-old killed by car outside Memphis motel

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A 2-year-old girl died after she was struck by a car Monday night at a Memphis motel, police said.

According to the Memphis Police Department (MPD), officers were called just after 6:15 p.m. to a deadly crash at the Economy Inn on Ketchum Road on the city’s southeast side. They arrived to learn that a Chevrolet Impala was driving through the motel’s parking lot when it struck the girl, who was walking, police said.

MPD said the child was rushed to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, where she died.

Family identified the child as Layloni Stevens. The family said they live at the motel, adding that the girl was playing outside and chasing a ball at the time of the crash…
