MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Tennessee POST Commission took up the decertification of a former Memphis Police officer during an informal hearing Thursday in Nashville.
Commissioners voted to decertify former Memphis Police officer Deonta Garland.
MPD officials at the meeting said Garland resigned back in March 2025 on the same day he was expected to face a disciplinary hearing for conduct unbecoming of an officer.
