MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The 34th annual Freedom Awards was hosted downtown, with hundreds attending the event at the National Civil Rights Museum Thursday night.
“I love that this night is all about inspiring positive change,” said Award Host and Actor Larenz Tate.
Every year, the event celebrates advancements in civil and human rights, but this year, the Memphis Safe Task Force was on the minds of many attendees.
“The presence of the National Guard in our cities is not needed, nor necessary, nor wanted,” said President and CEO of the National Urban League Marc Morial, Freedom Award Honoree.
