‘High-risk’ fugitive arrested by task force, as crime drops in city

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The U.S. Marshals Service arrested a man they called a “high-risk” fugitive on Sunday who was wanted for attempted murder and other felony charge.

Ernest Jenkins, 41 was charged with Criminal Attempt Second Degree Murder, Petition to Revoke Suspended Sentence, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Convicted Felon in Possession of a Handgun, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony, Possession of Controlled Substances with Intent to Manufacture, Deliver, or Sell (2 counts), Theft of Firearm (under $2,500), Theft of Property ($2,500–$10,000), and Burglary of a Vehicle.

At 5 p.m., the U.S. Marshals Service said Jenkins was located and arrested near North Pauline Street in the Medical District.

Task force makes nearly 1,000 arrests

Agents said this operation was a part of the Memphis Safe Task Force, an interagency coalition of federal, state, and local law enforcement partners.
