MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police have been saying crime is down, and numbers back it up. In fact, it may be record-setting.
Newly released crime numbers from the Police Department show homicides on a steady decline, and right now they are the lowest in years.
Police say overall crime is at a five-year low so far this year. Some 33,000 offenses have been committed in 2025, compared to some 65,000 in 2023.

Charles Dorse of East Memphis says believes it.“No, I’m not surprised with all the activities going on to see that police are enforcing the law,” Dorse said. “They are doing a great job from one side of town to, I should say, from the Southside to the Northside, they are patrolling.”…
