MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Tennessee Court of Appeals will allow an effort by the county attorney to remove County Clerk Wanda Halbert from office to proceed.
County Attorney Marlinee Iverson filed the complaint to remove Halbert from office in August 2024, then delegated it to an assistant county attorney because of a conflict of interest.
That case was dismissed, with a trial court ruling that state law prohibits the county attorney’s staff or private attorney handling the case.
