Mom reacts after task force nabs teen in toddler’s shooting death

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Safe Task Force has arrested a teenager in connection with the fatal shooting of a two-year-old boy in an Orange Mound neighborhood six months ago.

Jalen Thomas was charged with two counts of reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, one count of criminal attempt first-degree murder, one count of first-degree murder, and one count of employing a firearm with intent to commit a felony.

On April 11, 2025, Jamarion Payne was gunned down in the 700 block of Josephine Street.
