MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Fears are growing this Halloween for millions of families who could lose access to federal food assistance starting tomorrow as the government shutdown drags on.
The clock is ticking. Midnight on Halloween night is the witching hour for funding for SNAP benefits. It’s estimated that 42 million Americans receive SNAP benefits, and on Saturday, that funding is set to dry up.
