Veterans housing opens in Orange Mound with ribbon-cutting ceremony

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Support for veterans in Memphis is now available in the Orange Mound neighborhood.

The Scales House of Hope was unveiled with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Marechalneil Street. With the help of local businesses and volunteers, the home was built to offer quality living for veterans.

The Scales House of Hope was founded by longtime Orange Mound residents Jimmie Jr. and Bobbie Scales and their family. They lost their Park Avenue home to a fire but wanted to find a way to give back to the historic neighborhood they called home for nearly 60 years…
