Shelby County Government addressing $43M budget shortfall

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Shelby County faces money troubles due to a $43 million shortfall, according to a discussion during a Shelby County committee meeting.

The county’s deputy director of administration and finance said the county is in a “negative cash position,” and this cash position is lower than historical norms.

Despite the shortfall, a county spokesperson told Action News 5 that “there have been no discussions of interruptions or delays to payroll.”…
