MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Technology could soon help identify dozens of gravesites at a historic African American cemetery in Shelby County.
Friday, crews from the University of Memphis visited the historic Zion Hill CME Cemetery in Cordova to survey the site before they begin using what’s called ground penetrating radar to map out the cemetery.
The burial ground was in use from 1908 to 1982 by former members of a church and school that once stood there. Zion Hill CME Church is now located on Dexter Road.
