Lawsuit filed against Tami Sawyer for retaliatory termination

A former employee of the Shelby County General Sessions Court Clerk’s office has filed a lawsuit against Clerk Tamara “Tami” Sawyer, accusing her of retaliatory discharge.

The lawsuit was filed on Nov. 12, 2025, by Jeffrey Allen Walker, a former Chief Administrative Officer of the General Sessions Court Clerk’s office. It alleges that Sawyer violated the Tennessee Public Protection Act (TPPA) and engaged in reckless and intentional infliction of emotional distress, as well as negligent supervision.
