Memphis Safe Task Force Detains Guatemalan National on Multiple Charges, Including Stalking and Fraud

The streets of Memphis witnessed another action-packed afternoon as the Memphis Safe Task Force carried through with the arrest of 26-year-old Guatemalan national, Nelson Gomez‑Lopez. The Task Force, a coordinated effort among federal, state, and local enforcement, is becoming well-known for its no-nonsense approach to law and order in the community. According to a press release by the U.S. Marshals, Gomez‑Lopez was wanted on charges including Aggravated Stalking, Vandalism, and Filing a False Police Report, and he also faced charges related to immigration violations.

In the latest bout of the Memphis Safe Task Force’s efforts to keep the streets safer, Gomez‑Lopez was detained yesterday. His charges also encompass Being Unlawfully Present in the United States, and VISA/Immigration Document Fraud. The Task Force’s mandate, which they execute with surgical precision, is to pursue offenders who pose a threat to the community, and ensure those individuals are identified, located and brought to justice. It is boasted that they have made over 2,790 arrests, and in their wake, confiscated more than 453 illegal firearms. Additionally, over 300 known gang members have been stripped of their street credentials and removed from the Memphis locales.
