New details on $152M data center planned in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A data center developer says it in investing $152 million into redeveloping the former Fred’s headquarters into a state-of-the-art data center for technology and artificial intelligence companies.

WREG reported on the plans in April, but documents filed with the city-county Economic Development Growth Engine provide more details about the project, which will transform a 1 million-square-foot shipping center on New Getwell Road.

5C MEM01 Inc., based in Springfield, Ohio, “designs, builds, and runs high-performance data centers that support cloud, enterprise, and artificial-intelligence computing,” according to a PILOT application.
