MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Eleven people who allegedly assaulted, evaded, or resisted officers during recent Memphis Safe Task Force operations have been hit with federal charges.
All 11 of the cases involved traffic stops or highway pursuits. Several were initiated for traffic violations, including running a red light, driving without headlights, or having fraudulent temporary tags or excessive window tint.
In one case, a man is accused of intentionally hitting a Tennessee Highway Patrol car head-on. Another man is accused of trying to steal a trooper’s gun and biting a marshal who was assisting. Another is accused of dragging a trooper up to 60 feet in his vehicle…
