Couple wakes to flames engulfing home on Thanksgiving, escapes uninjured: ‘We are really blessed’

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – A Westwood family escaped uninjured from a house fire that engulfed their home on Thanksgiving morning.

“I can’t tell you what went through my mind. All I can tell you is [I thought], ‘Get out of here,’” said Patricia Hunter.

Hunter and her husband were awakened by smoke and flames inside their residence Thursday. She said her husband woke her as the house filled with smoke.

“My husband woke me, saying, ‘Come here, come here, come here.’ The house was just smoked up,” Hunter said…
