Fire at wastewater treatment plant pond sparked by driver: MFD

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A driver was injured after driving into a waste pit that started a fire at a Frayser plant on Thanksgiving, according to the Memphis Fire Department.

MFD said that they are on the scene of a Haz Mat call at 373 Stiles Drive at the City of Memphis’s Stiles Wastewater Treatment Facility.

Firefighters said that at around 5:15 p.m., an intoxicated driver drove into a waste pit, which started the fire, and the driver was taken in non-critical condition to the Regional One Health’s Burn Center for evaluation and treatment.

MFD told WREG they cannot confirm if the driver was intoxicated…
