MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Some Memphis-Shelby County Schools parents said they are frustrated and confused after learning Lucy Elementary School could be merged into a K–8 campus next year.
District officials said during a community meeting Monday night that the plan is only a recommendation. However, several families told FOX13 it feels much more permanent after learning the state has ordered MSCS to sell the Lucy building to Millington Municipal Schools.
District leaders confirmed the building must be sold under a 2023 state law. If that sale goes through, Lucy students would be moved to Woodstock Middle School, which would be converted into a K–8 campus…
