HERNANDO, Miss. – Neighbors are raising questions about the DUI arrest and immediate release of DeSoto County Judge Karen Sanders.
FOX13 first reported Judge Sanders’ arrest on Sunday. FOX13 obtained a traffic ticket that shows she was stopped at 5:50 p.m. Saturday at the corner of West Valley St. and Elm St. in Hernando’s historic district.
Neighbors now question whether Judge Sanders received special treatment.
The DeSoto County jail publishes booking records for every inmate. Judge Sanders’ was never published online for public view. The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office says that was due to safety concerns, and is common practice with any high-profile arrest. The office says it will now publish that record. North Mississippi news agency TVMO News Network obtained the booking record through a source. FOX13 is publishing it with TVMO’s permission.
The record shows Judge Sanders was booked into the DeSoto County jail at 9:38 p.m. Saturday night. She was released 33 minutes later at 10:11 p.m…
