Woman killed in West Memphis after one of two cars racing lost control, struck her, mayor tells FOX13

WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. – A woman experiencing homelessness was killed in West Memphis late Thursday night after one of two cars racing in the streets lost control and flipped, striking her, the city’s mayor said.

A Crittenden County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to stop two cars racing on East Broadway near Ingram Boulevard around 10:20 p.m. Thursday.

West Memphis police said the driver, Amarion Prewitt, was arrested at the scene. The second driver was detained for questioning and later released.

West Memphis Mayor Macro McClendon told FOX13 that “both people in (the) vehicles” are alive after the crash at Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and East Broadway Avenue. FOX13 arrived just before midnight to find clothes and a stroller littered along the road…
