Collierville police use drone to track, arrest suspect in stolen-vehicle case

COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. (WMC) – Collierville police said Monday that drone surveillance helped them track down a man accused of stealing a vehicle.

Officers from the Uniform Patrol Division and Special Enforcement Unit, working with the department’s drone unit, were conducting surveillance at the Collierville Crossing shopping center near New Byhalia Road and West Poplar Avenue on a vehicle suspected to be stolen, police said.

The suspect left a business and was getting into the vehicle when officers arrested him, authorities said. Inside the vehicle, investigators found drug paraphernalia, items taken from the business and a backpack containing additional stolen merchandise and a handgun, police said…
