Memphis, Tennessee — A disturbing drug investigation in Memphis has led to the arrest of two men after authorities say a 45-year-old man was found actively overdosing inside a drug house while others used his body as a surface to place food. The incident was uncovered during a search warrant executed by the West Tennessee Drug Task Force in the Soulsville neighborhood.
Disturbing Discovery During Drug Raid
According to investigators, agents executed a search warrant early Wednesday morning at a residence in the 1000 block of Talley Place following a month-long investigation into fentanyl distribution. When agents entered the home, they immediately encountered a scene they described as deeply alarming.
Authorities say a 45-year-old man was actively overdosing and appeared to have been in that condition for some time. Despite his medical emergency, others inside the residence allegedly showed no concern and were seen placing food on the man’s back, using him as a makeshift table, according to the task force.
Life-Saving Action by Agents
Agents quickly administered naloxone, a medication used to reverse opioid overdoses. The man was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in extremely critical condition, authorities confirmed.
Officials emphasized that without the immediate intervention of trained agents, the outcome could have been fatal.
Two Men Arrested at the Scene
The West Tennessee Drug Task Force identified the two individuals arrested in connection with the case as:
- Barry Andre Oliver, 26
- Michael Ford, 43
Both men were taken into custody at the scene. Investigators say the arrests stem from evidence uncovered during the execution of the search warrant.
Large Cache of Drugs and Weapons Seized
Following a detailed search of the residence, agents seized a significant quantity of illegal narcotics and related items, including:
- Five ounces of fentanyl
- Five ounces of methamphetamine
- 8.5 ounces of cocaine
- 88 oxycodone pills
- 3¼ methadone pills
- Three-quarters of a pound of marijuana
- A loaded semi-automatic handgun
- Three sets of electronic scales
- $2,375 in suspected drug proceeds
Authorities described the volume and variety of drugs recovered as indicative of large-scale distribution activity rather than personal use.
