MIFA delivers annual holiday meals, gifts

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Volunteers with the Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association (MIFA) spent Saturday morning delivering hot meals and gifts to homebound seniors.

This annual tradition dates back to 1984 with hundreds of volunteers spreading holiday cheer to nearly 900 pre-selected seniors citizens in the the community.

The holiday meal included turkey and dressing along with all the fixings. Each senior also received a gift bag filled with essentials.

Organizers say for some seniors, this friendly visit can potentially be the only face-to-face connection they’ll have all day, making the mission about more than food.

“We’re just so grateful that It’s more than a meal,” explains MIFA Chief Advocacy & Engagement Officer Arnetta Stanton Macklin, “That one-on-one contact really makes a difference in the lives of our seniors.”…
